Another 1/2 Marathon just 2 Weeks AWAY!!!

I am so pumped and excited to be going to Nashville, Tennessee in just 2 short weeks to run my first Women's half marathon. It will add another state to my 1/2 marathon completed states. So far, I have run a 1/2 marathon in Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and Scotland. I know, Scotland doesn't technically count as a state, but it's still really cool to have run a 1/2 marathon there. I have scheduled myself for 3 half marathons this fall, all in different states. If I am successful, I will add Tennessee, Missouri, and Pennsylvania to my 1/2 marathon list. The Women's half marathon series is noted for their unique 2 in 1 medals. I do have to admit that I am totally stoked for the medal around my neck.

My training has been really hit and miss so far this training season. I have had runs where I felt like an absolute superstar and runs where I have felt like sludge, and I would have been better on the couch. Running is such a tricky thing. It is completely individual, but yet we like to do it in groups. It is something that should involve self-accomplishments, but we always want to know finish times. It truly is a sport that involves a lot of mental discipline and toughness. This is an area that I waiver in often. Most of the time, I think I am pretty strong mentally, and then when I break down, man do I ever break down. I don't just slide down the hill, I roll/tumble/fall to the complete bottom. So every climb back to where I was "before" is always tricky and unstable for a period of time. I am ready to do the half marathon mentally. It has a 4 and a half hour time limit, so it really appears to be a beginner friendly race. I wish I still didn't perceive myself as a beginner, this will be my 6th half marathon, but I do. I just hope physically everything works out for me. I am still doing interval running. I hope to expand beyond this during the spring season. I really want a running coach that will help me grow and develop into a stronger more secure runner, if that's possible. For the fall, and the 3 scheduled half marathons, I plan on using intervals. The specific interval times I am not sure of yet, I will wait and see how I feel on that particular day.

I am finally getting myself back to some state of healthy. My achilles tendons on both sides seem to be hanging in there, and my back is finally starting to feel better. I have really enjoyed getting to run with a variety of people, and hope my training continues to go well.

Many of the Optimists will run double digits (10 miles) for the first time next Saturday. I am so excited for them. I should have a cut back week, but may run all 10 miles, just to share in their experiences (although many of them are faster than me). Time will tell. I will keep logging the miles and keep heading out for my jaunts. Don't worry I will be sharing my Nashville 1/2 marathon with everyone!!!
